L’imitation est en quelque sorte nécessaire à la survie de l’espèce humaine et ne doit pas être perçue comme un acte à punir, ou bien à banaliser. Elle revêt un rôle d’une importance capitale dans son développement. Elle fait partie intégrante de la capacité d’adaptation de l’enfant à la société dans laquelle il évolue.
L’attitude positive d’un parent face à son propre corps, à l’alimentation et face au corps des autres, incluant celui de son enfant, ne peut qu’avoir de saines répercussions sur la façon dont ce dernier percevra son propre corps et ne peut qu’améliorer sa relation avec les aliments.
Premièrement, il est important de démontrer à nos enfants qu’une saine image corporelle, ce n’est pas réservé qu’aux minces ou aux top-modèles. Il est possible d’accepter son corps tel qu’il est et de se sentir fier de l’habiter même avec un corps imparfait. Il n’y a ni bonnes ni mauvaises réponses, seulement une réalité transmise par les parents qu’il faut identifier, une réalité qui comporte toujours des forces et des faiblesses.
Il est d’autant plus essentiel d’en prendre conscience et de bien identifier les origines de ce manque d’acceptation afin de ne pas continuer à les reproduire, et le plus tôt sera le mieux. Ce n’est qu’après avoir réalisé l’impact négatif que ce manque d’amour-propre a eu dans notre propre vie, en prenant conscience de ses gestes par rapport à la nourriture ou de ses propos quant à son corps, qu’il sera possible de s’améliorer pour soi et pour son enfant.
Une attitude bienveillante
Malgré tout, des attitudes favorables au développement d’une saine image corporelle et d’une bonne relation avec la nourriture peuvent être adoptées avec son enfant sans avoir réglé tous ses problèmes personnels.
Il n’est pas nécessaire de montrer le parfait exemple en permanence. Affecté par les circonstances de la vie, chaque parent a ses limites. D’ailleurs, jouer le rôle du parent parfait n’aurait pas l’effet escompté puisqu’il est important pour un enfant d’apprendre à admettre que ces parents ont aussi des faiblesses, et que lui aussi en a. L’enfant sera plus en mesure de devenir un adulte qui accepte ses propres faiblesses et qu’il s’aime malgré ses erreurs de parcours, s’il a eu cet exemple de ses parents.
Accepter ses faiblesses tout autant que ses forces est un signe de confiance en soi et d’amour envers soi, et ces atouts aident définitivement à traverser les embûches de la vie et à en tirer des leçons positives.
Acceptez que toutes les attitudes parentales exemplaires à une saine image corporelle pour son l’enfant ne soient pas toujours présentes. L’important est de faire le bout de chemin que l’on peut avec et pour son enfant afin qu’il soit mieux dans son corps, se concentrer sur ce que l’on réussit à faire pour eux et ne pas s’en vouloir pour tout ce que l’on ne réussit pas à son goût et de ne pas avoir peur de solliciter de l’aide au besoin.
