Manger local: pour contrer la hausse des Prix!

Vous l’avez surement constaté, le coût du panier d’épicerie est en hausse depuis la pandémie. Nous vivons également une pénurie alimentaire. Mais plusieurs petits producteurs locaux ont encore la vie dure!

Bien que cette crise soit temporaire, il vaut quand même mieux faire preuve de prudence dans les dépenses et adopter des habitudes qui bénéficieront non seulement votre portefeuille mais à l’économie.

Les produits locaux  subissent-ils la même hausse de prix? Il semble que non. Pourquoi ? Bien que ceux-ci peuvent être légèrement plus dispendieux (tout dépendant de la provenance et du temps de l’achat), leur prix demeure stable. En adoptant une alimentation locale, on est moins susceptibles à la hausse de prix et on encourage les producteurs locaux. Une solution gagnante à tout coup !

Les marchés publics regorgent de produits frais qui séduiront vos papilles gustatives. Faites-en une activité familiale et faites découvrir à vos enfants l’abondance de fruits, légumes et autres produits locaux qui s’y trouvent. Une bonne façon de  rendre le tout encore plus agréable est de demander à chaque membre de la famille de choisir un aliment inconnu une fois de retour à la maison, on s’amuse à trouver une façon originale de l’apprêter. Une belle façon de stimuler la créativité de tous tout en diversifiant notre alimentation.

Des études préliminaires tentent de démontrer que les produits locaux et biologiques peuvent être légèrement plus nutritifs, le plus court transport permettrant de mieux préserver les vitamines et contenant moins de pesticides. Bien que la science n’est pas unanime à ce sujet et que consommer des fruits et légumes dépasse est largement plus bénéfique que l’ingestion d’une quantité néglibable de pesticides, il n’en reste pas moins que les produits sont nettement plus goûteux et  savoureux. De plus, avoir la chance d’interragir directement avec le producteur nous permet d’en savoir d’avantage sur l’aliments, nous permet d’apprendre comment l’apprêter et le conserver pour préserver le goût des aliments mais favorise le sentiment d’appartenance dans la communauté.

Le Baromètre de la consommation responsable, un outil fort utile nous permettant d’évaluer les habitudes de consommation des québécois et d’évaluer celle-ci en accordant un indice de consommation nous indique qu’en 2016,  nous avons augmenté l’indice de 2.1 points depuis 2010!  Ce que ce rapport nous apprend également, c’est que les consommateurs désirent ‘’revoir leur mode de vie et leur consommation’’, ‘’désirent se diriger vers des produits plus naturels’’ et  ‘’fabriquer leur propres produits au lieu de les acheter’’.

La bonne nouvelle est qu’en s’intéressant davantage à la provenance des aliments et aux particularités propres aux produits du terroir, on en apprend sur la façon dont l’aliment a été produit et on devient donc plus conscient de l’impact de nos choix, ce qui nous permet de prendre une décision d’achat en fonction de nos valeurs et nos motifs personnels. Les aliments font en moyenne un trajet de plus de 2500 km pour se rendre à notre assiette. En achetant local, on diminue la quantité de gaz à effet de serres reliés au transport des aliments et on s’assure un maximum de fraîcheur !

L’important est d’y aller graduellement et d’impliquer toute la famille. De petits changement peuvent exercer un impact significatif à long terme, même en dehors d’une crise. Selon le ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ), si chaque consommateur achetait pour 30 $ de plus de produits québécois par année, les retombées sur l’économie québécoise seraient de l’ordre un milliard de dollars de plus en cinq ans. C’est loin d’être négligeable!

Adopter une alimentation locale aura des répercussions positives sur votre portefeuille. En achetant des produits saisonniers, on obtient non seulement un produit frais, nutritif et savoureux à souhait mais un produit plus économique.
